Larimar is a blue gemstone only found in the Dominican Republic, in the Caribbean, and is a variety of the silicate mineral pectolite with a Mohs hardness of 4.5-5. Larimar is often blue, but may be found in shades of green and with white, red, and brown colors due to mineral presence. It is important to note that the deep blue stones are particularly photosensitive and often fade with time if exposed to too much light and heat.
